This group serves as a contact point for persons and organisations interested in organising tours or research project with the research vessel Sunbeam.
Sunbeam was originally built in Lowestoft, UK, as a sailing trawler. In the 1930’s she was sold to Sweden where she was equipped with an engine and served as fishing and cargo vessel. In 1962 she was bought by the “Uppsala Marine Botanical Mediterranean Expedition”. Ever since she has been used for environmental research, courses and leisure.
During the spring 2015 Sunbeam is located in central Uppsala and offers tours on river Fyrisån and lake Ekoln. From the beginning of June she is based in Stockholm and available for tours in the Stockholm archipelago.
The ship can take up to 12 passengers. Facilities includes a well equipped kitchen, beds, WC, BBQ on deck. A small motor boat carried onboard may be used for transport, fishing and exploration of remote islands.
